I am amazed at how quickly time marches on, despite my protests. Even though I am lamenting the start of school, for many others, I know the opposite might be happening! Kids being back in school every day with solid routines and occupied time might be music to your ears! Whatever emotions you are feeling, one thing is clear: that first day of school is fast approaching!
As we find ourselves prepping school supplies, shopping for back-to-school clothes, and looking at new class schedules, might I suggest considering a few other items? The website Empowered to Connect has some great resources specifically for children who come from hard places, to allow your child’s school team to get to know your child (and your family!) better. Such resources include an “All About Me” form, a “Dear Educator” form, and an “IEP/504 Tip Sheet”.
To learn more about these forms and download them for your own use, click on this link and scroll to the section titled “School Support Resources”: Downloads – Empowered to Connect
I will be praying for your family’s back-to-school season, and that this transition goes well!
Lifeline Youth & Family Services helps individuals and families rediscover solutions that will allow them to reclaim control, rebuild relationships, and restore hope.
